CVAR 2010 DUES REDUCTION AND MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION

To all of our members:

CVAR has reduced dues for 2010 REALTORS and Primary Affiliates.

REALTOR dues is $145.00 plus state and national total is $395.00

Affiliate Primary dues is $100.00, down from $200.00 over the last two years.

Our membership promotion allows new and returning members to join CVAR now, without any prorated 2009 dues. Additionally, we are waiving new member, orientation and transfer fees from now through February 15, 2010. You sill see this posted in the events section of t… Continue

ADVANCE FEES FOR LOAN MODIFICATIONS NOW PROHIBITTED

On October 11, 2009, Governor Schwarzenegger signed Senate Bill 94 (Calderon), and the legislation took effect immediately upon his signature. Thus, California law now prohibits any person, including real estate licenses and attorneys, from demanding or collecting an advance fee from a consumer for loan modification or mortgage loan forbearance services affecting 1 - 4 unit residential dwellings.

Governor signs AB 957, "Buyers Choice Act" authored by Assembly Member Kathleen Galgiani

In a press release at 2:16pm Oct 12, Kathleen Galgiani reported that, over the weekend, the Governor signed AB 957, "Buyers Choice Act". This is important legislation that legally establishes a buyers' right to choose their own title and escrow services. Assemblywoman Galgiani worked closely with the California Association of REALTORS to iron out minor but significant details in this legislation that should help bring title and escrow services back to local title companies.
